Tiny Tickers
We exist to help babies with serious heart conditions, giving them a better start in life and the best possible chance for their future. We help drive improvements in survival rates and quality of life for these babies, and we help their families cope with their diagnosis.
We want every baby to be detected as soon as medically possible. This means problems being spotted during pregnancy, or before babies leave hospital after being born. We raise awareness amongst health professionals and new and expectant parents to achieve this.
Tiny Tickers provides specialist training to sonographers doing 20-week pregnancy scans – the best chance to spot most heart problems before birth. We also fund pulse oximetry machines in maternity units across the UK, which can indicate possible heart or respiratory issues quickly and effectively by measuring the amount of oxygen in the blood. For families who have received a diagnosis, we offer support and work with other charities and professionals to make a difference to families affected by CHD.
We also tirelessly campaign for NHS decision-makers to work in the best interests of babies with CHD – establishing appropriate screening, service standards and listening to the patient/public voice.
