Tanvir Alam is a GP Partner, Deputy Medical Director for the North East Essex Integrated Care Board and TPD for Advancing Equity & Differential Attainment for Norfolk & Waveney. His key interests are addressing the Differential Attainment gap for the MRCGP exam which he has been working on since 2012, increasing cultural safety for all nine protected groups as per the NHS five-year EDI strategy (bringing the First National Cultural Safety workshop to the SNEE ICS), improving the physical health of patients with Significant Mental Illness and health inequalities. He’s also a Fellow of the Society of Leadership Fellows at St. George’s House, Windsor Castle and Chair of the East of England division of BAPIO. BAPIO awarded him the prestigious Imran Yousaf Memorial award for showing compassion to doctors in distress and he has been selected as one of the 50 most influential Muslims in Europe for 2024
