Dr Roger Henderson

Locum GP, South West Scotland

Dr. Roger Henderson was born in 1960 and raised in Cumbria. He qualified as a doctor from St Bartholomew's Hospital, London in 1985, and as a general practitioner in 1990.

He entered the media world in 1995, and within 2 years was the medical columnist for the Sunday Times. He is one of the UKs most respected health broadcasters and writes for a number of national publications, is a writer and presenter for GP Notebook, and appears regularly on the television, radio and online as well as co-presenting the very popular Rash Decisions, Skin Deep and GP Notebook podcasts. He was the medical director for LIVA Healthcare, positioning its diabetes coaching app into the NHS and other countries across the world. From 2022 to 2024 he was the global content creator for Healthwords.ai, the UK’s first consumer health AI dedicated to self-care as well as professional health advice. 

He is a highly experienced GP, previously the senior partner of a 15,000-patient general practice where he was also a GP trainer, running his large main surgery and two branch surgeries including a University campus. He now works as a sessional GP and judges the annual national General Practice awards. He is also a well-known expert in the field of smoking cessation.

He has written and given presentations at hundreds of UK and global health conferences over the last 30 years, and remains involved with speaking at and chairing multiple online talks and presentations both in the UK and around the world. He has a long-standing interest in the delivery of clinical education to healthcare professionals.
