Chris Askew
Chief Executive, RCGP
Chris Askew was appointed Chief Executive of the Royal College of General Practitioners in October 2023. He is also a Trustee of the National Academy for Social Prescribing and a Director of All About Obesity. He was previously Chief Executive of the charity Diabetes UK, during which time he was a member of the PHE Prevention Programme Board, Chair of the Richmond Group of health charities, Chair of the NHSE Diabetes Clinical Panel and member of the ‘Empowering People and Communities’ NHSE Taskforce.
Previously he was Chief Executive at Breakthrough Breast Cancer (now Breast Cancer Now) where he chaired the DHSC Breast Cancer Working Group, was a member of the National Cancer Strategy Implementation Advisory Group and Cancer Drugs Fund Working Group.
In the past, Chris has been a member of the BBC Appeals Advisory Committee, a regional volunteer for the MS Society and a Trustee of the Revolving Doors Agency.
Chris was awarded an OBE in 2020 in The Queen’s Birthday Honours list for services to people with diabetes.
